Kristen and Karla are co-founders of a one stop shop for help with relocation, settling in, venturing out, and getting through paperwork and other headaches that might pop up along the way. They've helped dozens get their lives on track in Lisbon, and now they're officially open for business to help even more.
Q: What inspired you to start Sorted, and what gaps did you see in the market that you wanted to address?
Sorted was inspired by our own experiences moving to Lisbon. We both had a tough landing and faced similar challenges. We love living in Lisbon now but it wasn't an easy start for either of us! Over the years we've helped dozens of friends (and friends of friends) to get settled here so we finally decided to formalize it!
Q: Can you describe the range of services you offer and how they cater to the unique needs of individuals and families relocating to Portugal?
"Tell us what you need, we'll get you sorted" says it all. We offer a wide range of services - everything from immigration lawyers and accountants to school searches and pet groomers. We have a dream team of trusted partners we work with that make moving to a new country as easy as possible! And because we have walked in our clients' shoes we are super aware of what they need - a thoughtful and reliable support system in their newly adopted home!
Q: How does your team assist clients in navigating the legal and regulatory requirements involved in relocation and getting settled in?
We only work with the best immigration lawyers, tax lawyers and accountants. Our partners are not only experts they are trustworthy and consistent.
Q: What sets your consultancy apart from other similar services, and how do you ensure a smooth and personalized experience for your clients?
What sets us apart is our personal experience. We know the challenges and understand the complexities of navigating the Portuguese system, what we often call "the sunshine tax". :) We know it because we did it ourselves. And in doing it we have made great connections with great people that we now connect our lucky clients with!
Q: Can you share a success story or a memorable experience that highlights the impact of your services on a client's journey?
Our clients are super varied in their needs and backgrounds. Some have just arrived in Lisbon. Others are on their way and still others have lived here for years! You never know when life takes a turn and you need a network. That's where we come in!
Q: What's the most important thing you've learned since you came to Portugal and how has your personal journey shaped the way you plan to move forward with Sorted?
The most important thing we've learned is that expat life is liberating and exciting - but it's not all beach days and long lunches! When you actually LIVE in a new country you have to learn how to get things done - how to do LIFE! When we look at Sorted's lovely network of partners it's like looking at a yearbook of our time in Lisbon. Now we get to give back to the fabulous people who helped us along our way!
