Summer is Coming!
If you're anything like us, you're in panic mode if you don't have your kids' activities planned out so you can keep doing you. Depending on their interests, there are loads of options around Lisbon to keep them happy, healthy, and occupied. Registrations have opened, and now's the time to get it sorted. Here are a few recommendations from our team to get the gears turning.
For Explorers
Outdoor activities and school break camps are crucial for children, providing them with the opportunity to enjoy fresh air and the summer sun while learning to respect nature, developing physical and social skills, and improving self-esteem through fun and creative activities. Equally important, these camps offer parents peace of mind, knowing their kids are safe and thriving in a secure environment.
Get your kids outdoors at a camp like Cascais Routes, which offers fantastic opportunities to explore all different tyes of terrain and build stronger, more resourceful kids through exciting activities like surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and skateboarding.
This service offers full day camps, from 9am to 5pm in Cascais for kids aged 4-17. Lunch, activities, and transfers are included in the deal. What's not to love?
For Artists and Musicians
Practicing art and music is immensely important for children, as it nurtures their creativity, emotional expression, and cognitive development. Engaging in artistic activities encourages innovative thinking and problem-solving skills, while music fosters discipline and enhances memory. Both art and music provide a valuable outlet for emotional expression, helping children to process their feelings and build self-esteem. Additionally, these practices promote fine motor skills and improve focus and concentration...even in the summer!
The Music Room is putting on a supercharged Music and Art Creative Summer Camp that has laid out their plans to jam pack each day (from 10am to 5pm) with some super innovative kids' activities. Build your own instruments, throw a bespoke vase nextdoor at Pezzi Di Mo ceramics studio, create a short stop-motion animation film, and embrace the joy of music! Lunch is included and veggie-friendly options are available.
And if that's not quite right for your little one, there’s Campo Musicasa musical summer camp, which combines music teaching with other fun activities plus a quality lunch, and runs from 9:30am to 4:30pm daily. Even if your child has never touched a key, strummed a string, or practiced the art of falsetto, the team at these camps will get them well on their way. Start by choosing an instrument (piano, guitar, or vocals) and through playful practice and interactions, your kid might just become the next Taylor Swift. Who knows?
If your kid is more into theater and art, check out the Casa Fernando Pessoa's Oficina de Verão- weekly workshops running from mid-July to August (with a two-week break) from 10am to 5pm. Expect paper and plastic arts, introductions to the theatric arts, nature, parks, poetry, and more. Lunch is not included in this one, so you're in charge of the creativity in the kitchen.
For Athletes
Looking for a little competitive spirit this summer? Whether your kid is into staying active or just being social, this camp is a great (and refreshing) way to do just that.
Game, set, match! Check out this awesome tennis camp called the Grow Tennis Academy. Located in beautiful, stunning Sintra, this camp is run by a veteran tennis coach at the Vila Gale. With access to courts, a massive swimming pool, and trampolines, this camp covers all the bases for your 5 - 14 year-old. Choose from 6 week-long 9am to 5pm sessions starting the first of July and running until mid-August. Lunch is included along with loads of tennis practice and genuine comradarie.
For Techies
Despite what you may be thinking, learning how to code from a young age holds immense value, as it equips children with essential skills for the future. Coding fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, enabling kids to approach challenges methodically and innovate solutions. It enhances logical reasoning and analytical abilities, while also providing a foundation in technology that is increasingly vital in today's digital world.
Vacation bootcamps at STEM - Happy Code run during school holidays, with weekly courses. Whether you go for the half-day (3 hour classes) or full-day program, you can expect your kid to combine technology and programming learning with recreational screen-free activities like JumpYards, movies, and lunch of course! Tech achievements range from the most basic digital skills to the creation of Games, Apps, and Web with written programming languages. They work in person and online. Tried and tested, these week-long camps are sure to put the pro in program.
